Title:
Collective modes in holographic plasmas with momentum dissipation

Abstract:
To properly understand the dynamics of any matter, understanding the most fundamental excitations is paramount. In strongly coupled matter, such excitations are by nature collective. In charged matter, the most fundamental excitations are plasma oscillations, but when modelling a density of electrons in a metal, the interaction with the positive lattice must be taken into account as well.

We extend previous holographic models to include dynamical polarization effects in the boundary by introducing a “mixed” boundary condition that incorporates the electrodynamical interactions. With bulk models that explicitly or spontaneously break translational invariance, we study the effects of momentum dissipation on the dispersion of the collective modes.
