{"id":2916,"date":"2024-10-21T14:59:26","date_gmt":"2024-10-21T12:59:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/projects.ift.uam-csic.es\/severo\/?p=2916"},"modified":"2024-10-21T14:59:27","modified_gmt":"2024-10-21T12:59:27","slug":"ai-will-open-new-doors-in-the-exploration-of-the-universe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/projects.ift.uam-csic.es\/severo\/index.php\/2024\/10\/21\/ai-will-open-new-doors-in-the-exploration-of-the-universe\/","title":{"rendered":"AI will open new doors in the exploration of the Universe"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>International experts meet in Madrid at the&nbsp;<\/strong><em><strong>AI goes MAD\u00b2<\/strong><\/em><strong> <\/strong><strong>conference to explore the impact of&nbsp;<\/strong><em><strong>machine learning<\/strong><\/em><strong>&nbsp;on the study of the universe and fundamental particles.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The relationship between theoretical physics and AI is highlighted at an event marked by the recent Nobel Prizes in Physics and Chemistry.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ift.uam-csic.es\/\">The Institute of Theoretical Physics (IFT UAM-CSIC)<\/a>\u00a0is hosting this week the second edition of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/workshops.ift.uam-csic.es\/AI2024\"><em>AI goes MAD\u00b2<\/em><\/a>\u00a0conference. This three-day event, held at the IFT facilities on the UAM campus, brings together international experts in theoretical physics and artificial intelligence to discuss advances at the intersection between these two areas of research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year&#8217;s edition addresses a broader range of topics, reflecting the growing interest and involvement of the scientific community in the interaction between artificial intelligence (AI) and physics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to researcher Ernesto Arganda, one of the conference organisers:&nbsp;<em>\u2018In this edition we have achieved greater thematic diversity and an increase in the number of participants, which is optimal for consolidating this workshop in the long term\u2019.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arganda also highlights the relevance of the event in the current context:&nbsp;<em>\u2018It coincides with the recent awarding of the Nobel Prizes in Physics and Chemistry and with the rise of the AI Revolution, which makes this meeting not only interesting for society in general, but also essential for the theoretical physics community.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Miguel \u00c1ngel S\u00e1nchez Conde, astrophysicist and researcher at the IFT, points out the growing relevance of these technologies:&nbsp;<em>&#8220;Artificial intelligence techniques are progressively becoming standard tools not only in our community, but also in other scientific fields.<\/em>&nbsp;<em>Therefore, these workshops are essential to promote the exchange of knowledge at this opportune moment&#8221;.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The aim of the conference is to facilitate the exchange of ideas between researchers from diverse disciplines, including particle physics, gravity, strings, cosmology, astrophysics, quantum computing and high-performance computing.
