headphones, 11 mins 30 seconds \/\/ Gold box with brass sensors and mini fan<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Composing with Dark Matter is an audiovisual installation for a solitary listener ready to engage in an exclusive encounter with dark matter. The creative process began with an email exchange, in April 2022, requesting Ode Aseguinolaza\u2019s involvement to listen in on the first few minutes of the Universe. Ode accepted, keen to embark on an aurally-inflected intergalactic adventure. A series of online discussions ensued between Rebecca Collins, David Cerde\u00f1o, and Ode Aseguinolaza in which the nuances of dark matter detection techniques were discussed and numerical video simulations of the galaxy halo shared. Further details on the seasonal fluxes and wind of dark matter were exchanged, making use of details from the ANAIS experiment, situated 800m below Monte Tobazo at the Canfranc Underground Laboratory. Another clue from the Astroparticle Acoustic Research Group at the Valencia Polytechnic University further informed the format. There, physicists and acousticians explore a bipolar acoustic pulse to sonically search for this elusive particle. International interdisciplinary experiments such as KM3Net and ANTARES study raw acoustic signals recorded on hydrophones situated at a depth of 2.5 km in the Mediterranean Sea aiming to assign an acoustic signature to this invisible energy. For Composing with Dark Matter Ode Aseguinolaza has prepared a bespoke dark matter detector capable of reacting to these particles circulating in the air surrounding the exhibition space. This system, configured using a series of brass sensors, is able to process and analyse the microscopic particles traversing the gallery offering an audiovisual response adjusted to each individual. Ultimately, in Composing with Dark Matter, the inaudible is rendered audible as the solitary listener attunes their imagination to the mysterious microscopic elements within everyday life.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Ode Aseguinolaza is an artist, composer and performer who lives in France. El proceso creativo comenz\u00f3 con un intercambio de correos electr\u00f3nicos, en abril de 2022, solicitando la participaci\u00f3n de Ode Aseguinolaza para escuchar los primeros minutos del Universo. Ode acept\u00f3, ansiosa por embarcarse en una aventura intergal\u00e1ctica con influencias auditivas. Siguieron una serie de discusiones entre Rebecca Collins, David Cerde\u00f1o y Ode Aseguinolaza, en las que se discutieron los matices de las t\u00e9cnicas de detecci\u00f3n de materia oscura y se compartieron videos de simulaciones num\u00e9ricas del halo de la galaxia. Se intercambiaron m\u00e1s detalles sobre los flujos estacionales y el viento de la materia oscura, utilizando detalles del experimento ANAIS, situado a 800 m bajo el Monte Tobazo en el Laboratorio Subterr\u00e1neo de Canfranc. Otra pista del Grupo de Investigaci\u00f3n de Ac\u00fastica en F\u00edsica de Astropart\u00edculas de la Universidad Polit\u00e9cnica de Valencia contribuy\u00f3 tambi\u00e9n a este. All\u00ed los f\u00edsicos y los especialistas en ac\u00fastica exploran un pulso ac\u00fastico bipolar para buscar s\u00f3nicamente esta esquiva part\u00edcula. The creative process with Adam Matschulat evolved from an initial conversation over a steamed latte at Caf\u00e9 OTO, London in July 2022. Ideas discussed included references to sounds of the everyday that shift reorienting the attention of the listener, the absurd and Samuel Beckett. A conceptual twist to the piece makes use of an excerpt from J.S. Bach\u2019s, <em>Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 in F Major, 1. <\/em>included on <em>The Sounds of the Earth<\/em> the Golden Record sent by NASA aboard Voyager I and Voyager II. Si bien el disco est\u00e1 destinado a los o\u00eddos de oyentes extraterrestres en planetas desconocidos, Collins y Matschulat pretenden atraer los o\u00eddos de aquellos en el planeta Tierra con la 1897<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">An evocative journey to a black hole that enables an embodied feel for what might occur were you to find yourself inside such a phenomena. The piece makes use of LIGO data sonification and was developed in collaboration with David Pere\u00f1iguez-Rodr\u00edguez and Rebecca Collins as part of \u2018Improbable Encounters\u2019 a crucial tenet of \u2018Parameters for Understanding Uncertainty\u2019(P4UU).<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Menhir is a collective formed by visual artists Coco Moya and the musician Iv\u00e1n Cebri\u00e1n.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Their research focuses on the notion of speculative territory and states of consciousness, through sound installations, performances, rituals, videos or publications. Rebecca Collins invited Mario Carro to collaborate with Esperanza Lopez-Manzanares, expert on the quantum world, to create a new musical composition to transport these ideas into a poetic format. Aspects of the quantum world are difficult for us to assimilate, given that they fundamentally go against our intuition. For this piece Collins accompanied Lopez-Manzanares and Carro as they shared thoughts, compositional ideas and theoretical discussions. The piece was created between April \u2013 July 2022.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Esperanza Lopez-Manzanares holds a PhD in Physical Sciences from the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM). Between 2002 and 2006 she was a Ram\u00f3n and Cajal Researcher in the Department of Theoretical Physics of the UAM.
