When strong coupling phenomena take place, important lessons can be learned by resorting to the universal principles of conservation laws and symmetry breaking. Hydrodynamics is an effective way to study the universal behaviour of conserved quantities and Goldstone modes at long wavelengths by packaging all the difficulties of strong coupling in a set of transport coefficients. I will discuss the computation of transport coefficients in a simple model of holographic superfluidity. This will allow the extraction of lessons about the low energy behaviour of charge density excitation across the phase transition.
