JOZEF VERMASEREN

Professor in Theoretical Physics

Nikhef (Nationaal instituut voor subatomaire fysica)

10/01/2011-01/04/2012

Prof. Vermaseren is an international expert in computational methods for calculating processes in perturbative quantum field theory. Specifically is the author of the symbolic manipulation program FORM, standard use in the field of research in particle physics. Your status has been endorsed by the prestigious von Humboldt in 2006. The research field of Prof. Vermaseren fits perfectly with the one developed by some of the working groups involved in the project HEPHACOS, particularly those doing research in computational QCD, preferably using the lattice as a calculation tool, so that the interaction between our guest and local researchers is guaranteed. We believe that the stay of prof. Vermaseren will initiate future collaborations. In addition, prof. Vermaseren will give a talk on "Computational High Energy Physics", which is an excellent opportunity for younger employees to learn these techniques from the hand of a true expert and creator of them. This opportunity is especially fortunate as particle physics is entering a new era thanks to the launch of the LHC accelerator (CERN, Geneva), whose experimental results required for analysis of a large computational power from the theoretical .
