ANNA CERESOLE

Professor

Department of Theoretical Physics,
Turin University

14-19 June 2010

Professor Anna Ceresole participated in the "XVIth European Workshop on String Theory", in which she pronounced the following conference: Extremal Black Holes and Duality

Extremal black holes in extended supergravity theories can be obtained as solutions of first order flow equations even when they are not supersymmetric, provided one identi es a suitable superpotential W appearing in the eff ective potential, and driving the evolution of the scalar fields. W also gives the black hole horizon entropy and the ADM mass. We explain how U-duality allows to determine W in many models and to classify both regular and singular solutions.
